After years of delays, Amazon’s MMORPG, New World, was finally set to release later this month, but the developers have announced that the game is getting pushed back one more time after a massively successful closed beta.
This is the game’s fourth delay! When Amazon first announced the game, it said it would come out in May 2020. Its release date initially slipped to August 25th, 2020, before Amazon announced a month later it was pushing the game back to spring 2021. At the start of the year, it then delayed the game to its most recently planned August 31st release date.
The studio announced that Amazon Games had delayed New World, its upcoming MMO, from August 31st to September 28th. The New World team will be “making some improvements” based on what players found in the beta, taking time to “smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game”.
“We know this isn’t the first time we’ve changed our launch date in pursuit of quality and that it can be disappointing to wait a bit longer. But we want to be sure we deliver the highest quality game possible at launch,” the studio concludes.
New World is one of three PC games announced by Amazon Game Studios. However, delays have impacted. Although it will surely disappoint fans who anticipate New World’s launch later this month, it makes sense for Amazon Studios to take the additional time to ensure a smooth launch for its new MMO, given its history.
